I am a very excited lady at the moment as my cousin had a baby yesterday! Well actually my cousin didn't have a baby his partner did - if my cousin had a baby my family would probably be on A Current Affair right now. Did you ever see that awful movie with  Arnold Schwarzenegger where he has a baby? I despise that movie. Anyway the point is my cousin had a healthy little boy named Matteo who looks absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to meet him.

In other news my body is hurting in places that I did not even know could hurt. I have been going to boot camp for the last 8 weeks but it still smashes me every time. It is worth it though as I am slowly losing weight but more importantly getting much fitter.

Also just thought I would do the old once and awhile reminder that if you think you can handle a little more of me in your life you can follow me on twitter or instagram where my username is timeaftertea. Leave your username so I can follow you too!

Howdy, 5 days without blogging, wow! I have been busy entertaining my mum and aunty who came down to Canberra for their annual big shopping trip. I can shop but good lord they wear me out we shopped for like twelve hours! They got everything they wanted so it was all worth it. I also got my new camera that I spoke about last week, the Canon 550D. I am still getting use to it so these photos were taken with my point and shoot. I am looking forward to going on little photo taking excursions with my new camera once I figure out how to use it properly!

My three weeks holiday got approved today and I am so excited for a break from work. I am heading to the beach for a week with Brendan in July and the count down is officially on. I don't know why I wanted to go to the beach in the middle of winter but I think it will be really relaxing and am looking forward to just being near the sea.

I love these pants and they are currently on sale here but deary me did I have cold little ankles all day!

Layered

dress: laura maidment // boots: target // coat: asos // jacket: kmart // belt: forever new // glasses: vintage

I wore this pink coat for the first time today and I absolutely love it! It brightened up my day, there is nothing worse than being stuck in black and grey all winter. I am trying my very best to keep my wardrobe bright and happy for the cooler months. I thought it might be fun to show the different layers to this outfit. I actually regret not wearing a black shirt under the dress but I guess I can do that another day. I actually think this dress is one of the most featured pieces of clothing on this blog, I don't think I will ever stop wearing it.

I am currently contemplating my quarter life crisis (yes I plan to live until I am one hundred). I know this sounds completely ridiculous but do you ever have those weeks where you cannot help but worry about the future? Lots of things are happening at the moment and I am slowly realising that things cant stay the way they are forever. Friends are moving away and I am facing big decisions about my career and other future plans. Turning 25 also means it will only be a month until Brendan and I move to the UK where I will be thousands of kilometers away from my family.Moving also means leaving our first house that we have lived in together for the past four years.  I am also worried that we wont get jobs and will have to turn around and come straight back. All these things are exciting but very scary at the same time, I know things will fall into place but at the moment I cant help but worry, lucky 25 is still 7 months away and things don't have to seem quite too "real" yet.

Ok I will stop rambling now and snuggle into bed and escape with my book!

A few little things I have bought lately, I really dont need anything but have been grabbing a few little bits and pieces when I really like something. Buying three of the same scarf in  different colours was probably a little over the top but they were on sale for $5 each.

I am going to try and save over the next couple of weeks as I really want to buy a DSLR. At the moment I am thinking a Canon 550D, do you guys have any recommendations?  I am such an amateur when it comes to photography but really want to improve and have a good camera for when we are travelling. I think it will be fun to learn something new. They always have classes on sale on living social which I definitely plan taking when I have my camera in my hot little hands. Now I just need to get saving!

If the boot fits

boots: mathers // skirt: kmart // shirt: dotti // blazer: zara // bag: spotted moth

Finding long boots is an absolute nightmare for me. I have chunky calves and most boots will only zip half way up. I spotted these last week and was adamant they wouldn't fit but my friends convinced me to try them on. Low and behold they zipped up (ignore the fact I had to size up and have to wear thick ankle socks) and I now have boots for winter. The weather here is beautiful at the moment crisp mornings and lovely sunny days I wish  Autumn could last forever.

This weekend has been slow and relaxing. I have read books, watched documentaries, napped and completed three loads of laundry. I love busy weekends but quiet ones remind you to take time out and enjoy the simple things. I think I needed this weekend to really get over the cold I have had for the last little while. I am finally feeling motivated again after two long weeks of feeling tired and uninspired.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend!

P.s If you are a documentary nerd like me check out smh.tv hundreds of free documentaries, I am absolutely addicted!

Oh wow I have not done one of these posts for ages, I can never stick to any sort of posting schedule. Anywhoo here is a quick little update on things happening in my world, what is happening in yours?

Reading... 'A visit from the Goon Squad'
Watching... Girls - anyone else addicted to this show? I thought I might not like it but I love its rawness.
Talking... to Brendan about not wanting to watch a show about fishing.
Thinking... that I have so much laundry to do!! I am down to the uncomfy underwear that only gets worn in emergencies like this.
Buying... possibly a top that I have been trying to hunt down for weeks, thank you ebay!
Planning... a trip to Terrigal in July, we booked a mystery hotel and ended up with something amazing very happy and excited.
Wearing...gym clothes after an abs class and time on cross trainer.
Craving... mushrooms - I cannot get enough at the moment, addicted!
Loving... that I have zero plans this weekend! Time to get organised and relax.

Thank you so much for your nice comments on my last post its nice to know I am not the only one who worries about these things!

Step away from the internet

I originally started blogging as a creative outlet, to a point I wanted to create a little escape. Whilst I loved studying law I needed something that was a little less black and white I also wanted to connect with people as a lot of my course was online and could be isolating. I love this little space and I love the people I have met but sometimes I feel a little disengaged with blogging. Do you ever feel like that?

Sometimes I cannot help but compare my blog to others for example my photos aren't as good as others or I don't post consistently enough or my content isn't as engaging as others. I think we can all have moments like this not just about blogging but about life in general. I certainly do not want to stop blogging but I think it is time for a change of pace. I want to go back to basics, post about things I love and post when I feel like it, not pressure myself to put things up and concentrate on connecting with other people and being part of this community.

I think this weekend really reminded me to enjoy the things I love and the people I love and not to worry about little things like how many posts I produce a week. I wore this outfit  to take mum out for breakfast and to the baby shower for Brendan's soon to be little niece or nephew! I than went to a murder mystery party with my friends from high school. It was kind of fun overload and I will now have to go to bed at 9.30pm for the rest of the week to recover, such a nana!

Ps How cute is my mums new bunny?!

Tonight I have been looking up information on moving to the UK next year. I have to say it is pretty overwhelming reading all about visas and jobs and so on and so forth. I think my biggest fear is not getting a job and having to come back again with my tail between my legs. I guess that is the whole point of an adventure, not knowing what is going to happen. Luckily we still have 7 months to go so don't need to do anything just yet.

This was an outfit I put together for work today. I bought these shoes ages ago but have not worn them. I kind of think they make my feet look really long. That sounds so ridiculous, maybe I am just not use to them yet.

This weekend is crazy for me and I have been battling a cold all week but I am not going to let that stop me from making the most of it. I am going to a baby shower for my new little niece or nephew, attending my first murder mystery party and taking my mum out for breakfast for Mothers day. What are your plans for the weekend? x

Today I wanted to do an updated "Whats in my makeup bag?" post as my interest in makeup as grown so much since the last time I did one of these posts. These products are my favourites and ones that I use on a regular basis and that I can honestly recommend to you all! I would love to hear your favourite every day products?

Foundation: Clinique Superbalanced (Alabasted #27) this foundation will give you a perfect finish, just make sure you match your colour. It is light enough to wear everyday.
Pressed powder: Clinique Almost Powder (Light #3) compliments the foundation, and will cover blemishes.
Blush: Australis (Baby doll) pretty pink colour that will compliment pink lips and is a pretty everyday blush.
Lipstick: Maxfactor (Scarlet Ghost) I adore this lipstick it is a beautiful pink colour and will brighten any day.
Lip balm: Nivea (Milk and honey) hydrates your lips for hours and is a really silky soft consistency.
Nail polish: Revlon Top speed (Stormy) a classic grey for the winter months.
Eye liner: Maybelline Master precise liquid eye liner-  I love the finished look this eyeliner will give your eye make-up, it is also very easy to use.
Mascara: Maybelline Colossal - this will give you lots of volume but if its length your after try a different product.
Eye shadow: Mirenesse Pearl Crush Palette (Baroque Pearls) this palette has really pretty purple colours and can be used to create a number of looks.

If you are interested I have put together a little video about these products that contains more information!

The wrong side

Today I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and have been in a grumpy funk all day. I lost Brendan's and my house key, two keys in the space of a week, I don't know how I did it. So this meant I missed the bus to work because I was looking for the key! So that kind of set the mood for the rest of the day. Oh I know woe is me, whinge, whinge, whinge but sometimes you just have those kind of days.

I wore this outfit to work and it did lift my mood a little. Maroon and spots are my favourite things to wear at the moment and this outfit captured both of these loves! I also love the length of this dress, dresses just seem so short these days!

I am just about to snuggle on the lounge in front of The Voice with tacos and lots of sour cream! I am than going to bed early and starting the day on the right foot tomorrow!! I hope you had a good start to the week, Mondays are hard enough as they are.

Another day another dollar

boots & cardigan: target // skirt(100 years old) & top: valleygirl // scarf: myer (current) // bag: kmart (current)

This outfit is kind of boring but at the same time I like to share a range of the outfits I wear and this is pretty indicative of the kind of thing I wear a lot to work. Sometimes I happily push the work dress code but when I have meetings or I am doing things outside the organisation I dress a little more conservatively.

I have actually owned this skirt since I was 17 and its from Valleygirl so it is pretty crazy that I can still squeeze into it and that it hasn't fallen apart. Wearing it today I realised it would have been way more fun to wear it with my maroon shirt with the white diamonds - so keep an eye out for that post.

Work is crazy at the moment, I was told today that I should not plan any social commitments for the next two weeks, eeck! I think they were joking....I hope! One thing keeping me sane is my renewed motivation for exercising I am loving my bootcamp sessions and body attack, considering I was too scared to even try there classes 12 months ago I am pretty chuffed with myself. Oh and the odd glass of red wine also helps!

I also wanted to say thank you for the nice comments about my YouTube video! It can be nerve racking putting yourself out there but I am excited about this new little project.

Autumn dreams

I have always been a summer baby but as I get older I fall a little more in love with Autumn every year. Life slows down a little bit and you can start to enjoy days inside with books or movies in front of the heater without feeling guilty about wasting the summer sun. I thought I would dedicate a little post to the things I love about this Autumn, such as...
Fashion - the colours, the coats, the layers oh my! Maroon, mustard and forest green are my favourite colours at the moment especially if they come in the form of a big snuggly scarf.
Weather - the weather tends to be dry with less rain than the previous seasons, I don't like rain unless I get to stay in bed all day. I also like that the sun is shining but there is a crispness to the air.
Soup - I have been having soup every single day! It is so hearty and comforting. I will share some of my favourite recipes soon.
Autumn carnival - I love going to the races and we have been lucky enough to go to two meets this season. Brendan loves it too so I feel like its something we can both do together and have a really good time.
Landscape- We are so lucky in Canberra to experience a true Autumn, the colours are just amazing at the moment! It took me an extra 20 minutes to walk home the other day as I was stopping to take photos of all the leaves and trees.
What do you love about Autumn?
