Outgoing packages

Today I packaged up and sent off my pressies for the two swaps that I have been involved in.

This one was for the Holiday Gift swap

The pressies (I even managed to make the bracelet myself)

All packaged up!

And this one is for the ornament swap

I really hope that my swap partners like them, fingers crossed.

Weekend wonderings...

I had a very quiet weekend, I went to summer school and slept alot! I dont know why I was so tired but i think it has to do with diet and exercise, so from today I am on operation get healthy. Not a radical diet or anything but just making healthier decisions and getting to the gym more often, so I have more energy because I hate feeling larthargic. I did manage to get to my lovely friend Elle's house warming on Sunday and even though it rained we still managed to have a great time.

B & I at the housewarming.

The gorgeous Bambi playing in the rain.

I am spending the rest of the afternoon wrapping christmas presents and doing some reading for summer school and then playing two games of netball night as part of my get healthy plan. I hope everyone had a great weekend!
P.S Why is it that you start the day with 5 lipglosses in your handbag and by the end of the day you cant find any of them? Does this happen to anyone else?
P.SS A big thankyou to Gracie from Gracie Bella Butterfly for the lovely prize I won on her blog. I highly recommend that you check out her lovely blog.

My Day Zero

You may have heard of the website Day Zero in which you create a list of 101 things you want to achieve in 1000 days. 10.Start making Jewellery again
11. Eventually host a swap and give away on my blog
12.Lose 10kgs - pretty sure this has been on my list FOREVER!

I may not get to celebrate but I am thankful

Due to all of the thanksgiving posts on the American blogs, I feel very caught up in the holiday. So today I am thankful for:

*~*Brendan*~*
*~*Having a job I love*~*
*~* My new black sandels*~*
*~*My blog which now has ten followers!!Thanks everyone*~*
*~*That homebake (music festival) is only a week away*~*
and that it is the weekend and I get to have drinks and dinner with friends tonight!

Happy Thanksgiving!

My parents were awesome

I told you that I would go scanning crazy. A couple of posts ago I mentioned the site My parents were awesome and that I was going to submit my favourite photo of my parents. So I have emailed it in but also wanted to share them with you.
This is my parents over twenty years ago, they look so happy.

Than this one was taken last year...I think they have aged pretty well and still look very happy.

Postcard share

So I finally sat down today and figured out how to use my scanner! So exciting as I will actually be able to share things with you properly instead of you having to look at my wonky photos. Be warned though I might go scanner crazy and scan everything in sight.
Today was spent sending postcards for postcrossing and writing christmas cards and than heading to the postoffice to send a few. Tonight I am off to have pizza with some friends I havent seen for awhile which will be nice.
Here are two of the postcards i sent out today:

Their off to Taiwan, Germany and the Netherlands (I somehow deleted the third postcard). I am on a mission next week to find some postcards that dont fit the "touristy" stereotype. Just not sure where to look at the moment, maybe stationery stores or bookshops. I guess I could always make my own, will have to be something I look into.

This is the first postcard that I received from Postcrossing. I received it last week from NYC!

Just remember if you would like to receive some mail feel free to email me!

Music and snail mail

I saw this band live a few weeks ago and loved them. In the crazy hustle and bustle of life i somehow forgot about them until they came on my ipod today and I fell instantly back in love. Check them out here, I am sure that you will love them too.

In other news, blogging has rekindled my love for snail mail. So if you are a follower or a commenter and would like to get some snail mail action please email me your address and I will send a little something to fill up you mailbox. While I am at it you should check out this great blog I stumbled upon today, Goodnight little spoon. This blog is full of snail mail love and some of the prettiest packaging I have ever seen. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of amazing bloggers out there.

Its beginning to look alot like christmas

So it seems as though the christmas season is officially here. I love christmas but I do stress out about getting presents. I started my shopping today and managed to get one present in two hours.

I have also been looking for an ornament for the ornament swap, these are some that I am loving at the moment.....

But I am going to be strong and wait until I get allocated my person so I can make sure I get them something they will really like.
I also really want to put up the christmas tree but Brendan says I have to wait until the 1st of December. When do you put up your tree? x

"What is christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path my lead to peace."

Eat, Pray, Love

I had heard about this book and it never really appealed to me but my friend lent it to me last night and I am already up to page 126. It is such a good book about self discovery and the importance of knowing who you are. I recommend this to all young women facing uncertainty or struggles in their lives, just to be reminded that believing in yourself can get you through.
It has made me really want to learn Italian as well. Here are two of my favourite quotes from the book:
"I will protect you until you die, and after your death i will still protect you. I am stronger than depression and I am braver than lonliness and nothing will ever exhaust me."
AND
"Bel far niente, the beauty of doing nothing"

Some lovely things from the internet

I am really enjoying finding lovely blogs all over the internet and wanted to share some of my favourite things of late...

Ornament Swap: you sign up and get allocated someone else within the swap to send a christmas ornament too. The swap is run by the very sweet Micaela from Dolce Vita. I love christmas so I am really excited to be apart of this, it is such a lovely idea. If you want to get involved hurry as it closes on the 20th of November.

My Parents were awesome: I saw this website on a A cup of Jo and fell in love. It is such a sweet concept and I have the perfect pic of my parents that I am going to submit. I will share it with you too once I have my scanner finally up and running.

Rhianne is having a giveaway at her blog, For the easily distracted, to celebrate 200 followers! What an achievement. Also check out her super cute etsy store where she sells her adorable prints. My favourite at the moment is Scarborough Fair.

I also really want this print...i look at it all the time so think it is time to just take the plunge.

What are your favourite things on the internet at the moment? x

I won, I won, I won

Guess what? I won a give away from Lady Smaggle and if I seem excited, you would be right, I am over the moon. I very rarely win anything, the last thing I won was a tape recorder when I was about 4. So what did I win? Some squiz cards which are pretty nifty personalised buisness cards that look like this:

Am not sure what I will put on them but I am sure that I will think of something. Make sure you check out her blog if you havent already!
In other news I just finished my last exam today woo hoo! The bad thing was that my drink bottle leaked in my bag 40 minutes before the exam soaking all my exam notes, which when you have an open book law exam is pretty devastating. I spent the next 20 minutes trying to dry them under the hand dryer. I think I went ok in the end. And am sure I will feel better when I have a nice cold cider with friends to celebrate.
Hope everyone else survived any Mondayitis that went their way x

Time to cook - Cheesy baked Eggplant

I have been wanting to cook something with Eggplant being the main ingredient for ages. I finally got around to it last night when a friend came over for dinner. I cooked Cheesy Baked Eggplant and it was delicous and easy. I thought I would share the receipe so you can all have a go at making it.

-You need half an eggplant for each person that you are serving.
- Cut the eggplants in half longways and than scoop the middle out, leaving a 2cm shell.
Sprinkle salt in the inside of the shells and on the scooped out flesh. Leave to sit for an hour and than wash salt off. This takes away the bitterness.
- Than chop up finely, two rashers of bacon, two tomatos, a brown onion, a clove of cruched garlic, and a  tablespoon of chives. Put this all in a saucepan with a tablespoon of oil and cook. Also add the middle of the eggplant that you have taken out, chopped up roughly.

- You than add 1 cup of brown rice in (I cheated and bought the microwave rice that takes 90 seconds to cook and has extra veggies in it).
- Once its all mixed in spoon into the eggplants and top with shredded tasty cheese.

- Bake for 20mins on 180 degrees
- Take out and sprinkle in some parmesan - than you have some delicous cheesy baked eggplant

ENJOY!!!

And this little piggy went to market

What a glorious weekend! The sun has not stopped shining since I finished work on Friday and apart from having to study its been a pretty great weekend.
On Saturday I headed to the Gorham house markets (which is mostly second hand stalls and yummy food) where I picked up this lovely skirt, which I am planning on wearing to work with a white shirt in my pursuit of bringing colour to my workplace.

It is such a brighter green than in these pics but I couldnt quite capture it.

I also grabbed this Women's Weekly cookbook. I am obsessed with these cookbooks ever since I was given all my mum and grandma's copies. They have such homey receipes and remind me of two amazing women in my life.
I think this one will be great for summer because there is so much delicous fresh produce at the moment.

On my way home I saw a church fete and decided to have a look. They had a huge white elephant where I got these for $1 each.

I use to be so anti - second hand shopping when I was younger. Dont ask me why, I think the thought of buying other peoples seconds didnt really appeal to me but now I cant get enough of it. Some my friends are amazing thrifters and I think I am slowly getting the hang of it too.
And look what else I found....

CHERRIES!
I didnt even know they were out yet but one little farmer was selling them for $5 for half a kilo and I could not resist (that bowl was full an hour ago).
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Things I can not wait to be doing..

Exam time always seems to dim my spirits a little but in two weeks I will be free and  I have created a list of all the things I want to achieve this Summer:
~ Read a book that is not related to law, actually make that many books. My books to read list keeps getting longer and I plan to start getting into it.
~ Finish my gardening projects! I love gardening (for a 21 year old thats a fairly uncommon statement) at the moment I only have two really good looking garden beds so I want to work on the others and get some pots and so forth happening.
~ Get to the markets. I love shopping at markets and Canberra has same really good ones that I havent been able to visit for ages. I am also planning a trip to the Bondi markets in a couple of weeks also. I have never been there but have heard some really good things.
~ Hang out with old friends. Old friends are good friends and the most understanding of me not being in contact for awhile. I can not wait to see them all.
~ Clean my house from top to bottom. Its the one thing, when I am busy, that is the most easy to neglect. Who knows what I might find....
~ Dedicate an hour to exercise a day. After housework this is the next thing I neglect when uni is taking over my life. It really shouldnt be such a task but I am not a naturally born athlete so really need to work at it.
~ Get more creative with my blog! I love blogging and reading other peoples blogs so will hopfully have a chance to get more into it and a little more creative. It is great to see more people commenting on my blog and I appreciate it so much it is convincing me to stick with it. Thanks so much!
- Go away for a weekend!
What are your plans this summer/ christmas period?Until than I plan on just "hanging in there".

Things to share with you from this weekend....

My nautical dress that I got from the Camden markets... this is the first time it was hot enough to wear it!

We used our flippers to get down at Stonefest...

Than we meet the lead singer from Art Vs Science and he was super cool...

Hope everyone else had a very special weekend!
